A Safe Place To Call 'Home'
The Haven was built from a community outreach
effort started in 1976 to provide assistance to youth in need.
In the early years, a small Delray Beach house served as "home"
to boys ages 8 to 14.
Today, The Haven is an alternative home for
young men, from age 9 up to 18, who have been placed in our protective
care. Each year, The Haven provides its comprehensive program to
an average of 75-80 boys with the average length of stay at more
than three years-with many boys staying until age 18.
On the five-acre, campus in suburban
Boca Raton, the young men reside in four home-like cottages
complete with a centralized kitchen and dining tables where they
eat their meals together, do homework from their local schools
and enjoy the camaraderie of their "family." In addition, the
campus' recreation building and outdoor basketball courts serve
as a focal point for a variety of activities. Each cottage is
managed 24/7 by a direct care staff that provide the
supervision and nurturing environment the young men require to
become self-sufficient and balanced adults. |
