Life 101. The Haven's Program for Success
The Haven's program is designed to foster the
development of our boys' self-esteem and independence in a safe,
loving and stable environment. All areas of the long-term
program are created and integrated to help prepare each young
man to become a self-sufficient, proud adult when he transitions
into the community at the age of 18.
The Haven's program consists of the
following:
Structured daily activities designed to
achieve balanced and enriched living
Individual and group counseling
Tutoring to encourage academic achievement
Recreational, spiritual and cultural events
Mentor program to build positive, adult
role models and relationships
Promotion of civic responsibility and
community life
Life and work skills development
Ongoing support to ensure smooth transition
to independent living after the age of 18
Our Boys Are 'Happy'
They feel safe and secure.
In July 2005, The Haven, Inc. announced its
accreditation from the Council on Accreditation (COA), a
national association that accredits public agencies and private
providers of child and family services and behavioral health
services. COA accreditation attests that an organization meets
the highest national standards and is delivering the best
quality services.
The Haven joins COA's Community of
Excellence, which includes approximately 2,000 private and
public organizations in the United States and Canada that serve
more than six million children, individuals and families.
The most notable COA observation came from
one of the COA peer reviewers who told members of The Haven's
Board of Directors and staff that The Haven was the first home
she had assessed where all of the young men who were interviewed
were "happy" living in their alternative home! |
